Our Week in PreK:

We had a very busy week in the PreK classroom with lots of excitement and so many opportunities to learn and grow!

The children were engaged in learning activities related to their unit of study, living things and growth.  They continued to closely observe the Kindergarteners' chicks, as well as having discussions about pets- especially hamsters.  We are considering inviting a hamster to the class for observation, please let Ms. Trillian know if you have any objections to having a hamster (in a cage) in the classroom for one day.  As of yet there are no animal / dander allergies noted in the class, but please do update if needed.

The students had the chance to work with both the art and drama specialist teachers last week.  They had a lot of fun doing some engaging activities related to the topic of living things!

Next Week:

We are looking forward to continuing our study work.  One group will continue studying babies and chicks, while the other group will begin studying plants with some planting experiments in the classroom.
We will also continue our numeracy work exploring the concepts of enough, more, and fewer.

Circle Solutions:

Last week the students really enjoyed sharing circle with their 5J buddies!  We talked about creativity and even related it to the Olympics!  The children imagined what type of sport they would play if they were in the Olympics themselves, and then created a figure playing that sport with their buddy.

Reminders:

Parents, please be sure to pack a healthy snack (or two; for morning and afternoon snack) and lunch for your child each day.  Most of the children have been very hungry lately- if your child's lunchbox is coming home empty, try packing a little extra- they might appreciate it!

Upcoming Events:  

We are welcoming a guest to the classroom on Thursday and Sunday (March 1st and 4th) of next week from the American School of Bombay's PreK program.  Please join us in making Samantha Wilson feel welcome at CAC!

Wednesday March 7th will be an early release day at 11:30.

We will have no school on Thursday,  March 8th.
